SUSTAINIBILITY

We are proud to share with you another step towards sustainability.

The large part of our leather type, can be labelled as “Carbon Neutral” with respect to direct and indirect emissions – meaning that they do not have any negative impact on global warming.

The Carbon Neutrality certification is the extraordinary result of a path undertaken for many years to reduce greenhouse gas emissions starting from the optimization and efficiency of the production process: from the use of solar panels, to lower water consumption, from reduction in the use of chemical products to the introduction of methods of continuous improvement in production.

In order to eliminate the residual impact originating from the tanning transformation, our leather suppliers has joined several United Nations emission offset programmes that address the climate emergency by supporting “green” initiatives.
The offsetting of emissions follows the guidelines set by the Kyoto Protocol, which allows corporations to offset their emissions by supporting sustainable development projects in emerging or developing economies.

Today our leather suppliers has chosen three projects for this purpose, located in India and Brazil, which focus on the production of electricity from renewable sources (wind and water) and biomass cogeneration (recovery of husk, a by-product of rice processing).

Our leather suppliers leather has been subjected to the Biobased measurement method certied from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The biobased percentage represents the organic carbon that originates from renewable material, comparted to fossil carbon. The analytical method used to quantify the amount is in according to ASTM International D6866.
